On Saturday, December 10th, Bill Sullivan volunteered at a Trail Maintenance day with the Cleveland National Forest. He regularly volunteers over 100 hours per year doing trail reports, but this day was a work day rather than a hiking day. There were cub scouts and boy scouts that volunteered with the adult Forest Volunteers.
He manned the PR booth, handing out brochures and coloring books, giving trail directions and hiking instructions, keeping an eye on the volunteers’ cars to prevent vandalism, which is pretty common in a national forest, especially when government vehicles are unattended.
All scouts, volunteers, and tools that departed on trail work returned the same day; no small children were left to the circle of life in the forest.
