My name is Alfred Morales and I've lived in the Inland Empire my whole life. I'm originally from Chino, CA and graduated from Ontario Christian High School and Cal Poly Pomona. Most of my mom's side of the family are also in the IE. My first professional experience while working in college was working for the Ontario Reign as a ticket sales & customer service intern. It wasn't until working with New Horizons that I would find myself full circle with the Ontario Reign.
My first job ever in the IE was actually at Footlocker at the Montclair Mall. Having been my first job after high school, this is where I learned basic work responsibility and I'm very thankful for that. At one point about three years ago I was in between jobs and actually met a New Horizons CDS Education Advisor at a Career Fair in the IE. When I saw an opening for sales with New Horizons I put his name down as a reference and after a few interviews got the job!
Over the past three years we have expanded to include up to 11 locations and as we grow I see this as a great thing for our San Bernardino center. With the IE being a smaller market, NHLG is able to tap into our larger resources in other centers and globally to give that value of more classes, more schedules, etc to our local IE community.
Now, having helped provide these resources and training to IE companies such as Stater Bros. Markets, KSL Resorts, County of San Bernardino, City of Temecula, City of Chino Hills and more I realize that businesses here are very customer service oriented like a family. And families like to help other family members out. So when there's an opportunity to network and see if an IE business can partner with another IE business it's a win-win situation for growth out here. That is exactly why the area has grown so much.
New Horizons also feels like a family to me and our CEO allows us to take paid work days off to volunteer in the community and give back to the areas we serve. One day I able to serve for the Run for the cure Cystic Fibrosis event at the Citizen's Business Bank Arena and I was able to take a picture with the mascot from the Ontario Reign and my professional career came full circle at that point.
Looking forward into the next 2-5 years I'd like to become the sole local advisor for professional development in the IE. As I work towards that goal you can also catch me working out at the Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Chino 24 Fitness. I like to hike Mt. Rubidoux on weekends. I also like to brew beer and I’m part of Inland Empire Brewers Homebrew Club.
